ZIMRA Introduces PAYE Employee Management Module for 2025 Tax Returns

0

Harare, Zimbabwe – The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has launched a new Employee Management Module under its Tax and Revenue Management System (TaRMS) platform. The module, set to take effect with the January 2025 PAYE return, aims to streamline the registration of employees and the declaration of their earnings, improving efficiency for employers.

ZIMRA Domestic Taxes Commissioner Misheck Govha said the module would allow businesses to register employees, declare earnings, and automatically compute taxes within the system.

“The Employee Management Module will provide a platform for entities to register their employees and declare their earnings, allowing for automatic tax computation by the system. Each registered employee will be allocated a Tax Identification Number (TIN), and those who are already registered will retain their existing TINs,” he explained.

Key Features of the New Module

The Employee Management Module introduces several key features to simplify tax compliance:

• Comprehensive Employee Registration – Employers must declare essential information such as marital status, disabilities, and date of birth to enable automatic tax credit calculations.

• Flexible Registration Options – Employers can register employees individually or use the Employee Upload Function to register multiple employees simultaneously.

• Auto-filling of PAYE and AIDS Levy – The system will automatically populate PAYE and AIDS Levy on tax returns after earnings are declared.

• Additional Tax Credits – Employers can declare Medical Aid Contributions and Medical Expenses Credits during the earnings declaration process.

Commissioner Govha urged all taxpayers and employers to familiarize themselves with the new system to ensure compliance and a smooth transition.

ZIMRA continues to enhance digital tax administration to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and simplify compliance for businesses and individuals across Zimbabwe.
