Harare, Zimbabwe – Rising football star Ted Manyati continues to make waves in the youth football scene, earning a place in Zimbabwe’s Under-15 National Provisional Squad following a string of outstanding performances. The young talent, who recently impressed during the CHISZ Under-15 tour to Durban, South Africa, has been recognized for his skill and potential, being named the tournament’s Most Promising Player.

Manyati, along with teammates Samuel Tuturu and Quincy Harawa, represented Zimbabwe in Durban from August 9 to 16, 2023, gaining valuable international exposure. The tour not only allowed the young players to compete at a high level but also provided them with an opportunity to attend developmental sessions led by experienced South African coaches.

The teenage sensation’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Manyati’s talent caught the attention of scouts and football experts, culminating in an exclusive training tour to Spain in December 2023 at the academy’s head office in Seville. The experience exposed him to top-tier coaching and a competitive football environment, further honing his skills as he aims for a future in professional football.

Zimbabwe has long been known for producing gifted footballers who captivate local fans with their flair and determination. However, many of these talented players often encounter challenges in breaking into the international arena due to limited support infrastructure, including inadequate funding, training facilities, and exposure to high-level competitions. Despite these hurdles, a renewed optimism is taking shape as individuals and key stakeholders ranging from former players and local business leaders to international partners rally behind the cause of nurturing homegrown talent.
