ZAA Diaspora Property Tour 2025: Building Dreams Back Home

Harare, Zimbabwe – The Zimbabwe Association of Australia (ZAA), in partnership with the Zimbabwe Real Estate & Construction Summit (ZRECS), today hosted an inspiring Diaspora Property Tour as part of the ZAA Diaspora Forum & Awards weekend. This event, designed to connect Zimbabweans in the diaspora with investment opportunities back home, offered participants a firsthand look at promising real estate developments and a chance to network with industry experts.

A Journey to Rediscover Home

The tour kicked off at 8:30 AM from the Main Post Office (Zimex Mall side), with eager participants boarding buses to explore investment-ready projects in Zimbabwe. The itinerary included stops at Lake City in Johannesburg (Norton), Arlington East, and PG developments showcasing the potential for growth in Zimbabwe’s property market. The tour provided a unique platform for attendees, both seasoned investors and those curious about opportunities to envision building a future in their homeland.

Running with the theme, “Rediscover Home Brick by Brick,” the event resonated deeply with participants, many of whom are part of the Zimbabwean diaspora seeking tangible ways to contribute to and benefit from the country’s development. The tour wasn’t just about viewing properties; it was a chance to connect with like-minded individuals, share aspirations, and learn from real estate professionals about the practicalities of investing in Zimbabwe.

Insights from the ZAA Diaspora Forum

The property tour built on discussions from the ZAA Diaspora Forum held three days earlier, where key speakers provided critical insights into real estate investment.

Ms. Rachel Chibaya of R. Chibaya Law Chambers emphasized the importance of ensuring proper legal documentation and title deeds to safeguard investments.

Mike Magengezha, a seasoned property investor, encouraged diaspora members to seize opportunities in Zimbabwe’s rising property market by acquiring land.

Aaron Kumanja from Realtor Ville Property Group highlighted the challenge of limited mortgage options but pointed to innovative solutions like Lake City’s 0% deposit plan, making investment more accessible.

These insights set the stage for the tour, equipping participants with the knowledge to make informed decisions as they explored the featured developments.

A Day of Exploration and Opportunity

The Diaspora Property Tour was a vibrant showcase of Zimbabwe’s real estate potential. Lake City, one of the highlighted projects, stood out for its forward-thinking approach to development and its investor-friendly offerings.

Attendees marvelled at the modern infrastructure and strategic planning of the sites, which are designed to cater for both residential and commercial aspirations.

Arlington East and PG also impressed with their unique features, offering diverse options for those looking to invest.

Networking was a key component of the day, with participants engaging with top real estate professionals, developers, and fellow diaspora members. The tour fostered a sense of community and shared purpose, as attendees discussed their dreams of building back home and the practical steps needed to turn those dreams into reality.

ZAA Founder, Conrad Mwanza, reflected on the vision behind the initiative:

“This property tour is about more than bricks and mortar, it’s about reconnecting with home, restoring confidence, and giving our diaspora community the tools to build generational wealth in Zimbabwe. We want people to see that opportunities are real and accessible.”

One of the participants, Tendai Moyo, shared her excitement after viewing the developments:

“For years I’ve wanted to invest back home but didn’t know where to start. Today I’ve seen real projects, met the developers, and connected with other Zimbabweans who share the same dream. It’s inspiring I’m ready to take the next step.”

For Zimbabweans living abroad, investing in their homeland is more than a financial decision, it is a way to reconnect with their roots and contribute to the country’s growth. The ZAA Diaspora Property Tour, in partnership with the ZRECSummit, provided a vital bridge between aspiration and action. By showcasing investment-ready developments and offering expert guidance, the event empowered attendees to take their first steps toward building a legacy in Zimbabwe.

The success of the 2025 Diaspora Property Tour underscores the growing interest in Zimbabwe’s real estate market and the diaspora’s role in driving its development. As the ZAA and its partners continue to create platforms like this, the vision of a thriving Zimbabwe, built “brick by brick,” becomes attainable.
