“To write a magnificent book, tap into the quiet voice inside you,” advises Neil Seeman, a Canadian author, entrepreneur, and professor whose career blends creativity with bold innovation. This spring, Seeman partners with Dionne England acclaimed author, business consultant, and coach to co-teach “The Writer As Entrepreneur,” an inspiring course running May 1st to July 3rd at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies on the St. George Campus.

Neil Seeman brings a wealth of experience to the classroom. An Internet entrepreneur, mental health advocate, and founder of Sutherland House Experts (SHE) publishing house in 2023, he’s also the author of Accelerated Minds,  a book that invites readers to explore new horizons with clarity and relatability. His co-instructor, Dionne England, SHE’s “Chief Story Finder,” infuses the course with her passion, humor, and storytelling expertise. Together, they’ll guide writers to harness their entrepreneurial spirit and craft elegant narratives for a broad audience.

Abel Mavura is a journalist, editor, and writer whose work explores the intersections of cities, migration, and social justice. He tells stories about how people move, survive, and remake urban life under conditions of precarity, drawing on close field engagement and lived experience. Trained as a journalist at the Christian College of Southern Africa, Abel’s early work was rooted in media practice and community storytelling. Over time, his focus expanded into research and critical inquiry, allowing his writing to move fluidly between reportage, analysis, and long-form reflection. He is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris and is currently pursuing research at the University of Cambridge, where his work builds on earlier research into migration and informal housing. Abel is the author of three books, and his writing has appeared across platforms ranging from grassroots and community radio to international and policy-facing spaces. His work is grounded in clarity, ethical storytelling, and a commitment to centring voices often left out of mainstream narratives.
