PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has been sworn in as Zambia’s Seventh President

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has been sworn in as Zambia’s seventh President emphasising on the need to restore the rule of law, general order in public places and communities, and return the country back to normalcy.

Speaking today during the ceremony at Heroes stadium, President Hichilema said his victory is not his but for all the citizens of the country, especially the youth who turned out to vote in great numbers with great energy and passion, and made this day possible.

“Today, we begin our journey towards realising this dream.I stand before you today, humbled and filled with gratitude, for your trust in a simple village boy who you have made the seventh president of the republic of Zambia.

He said the road ahead will not be without challenges but with a clear vision and plan, which he has, and relentless determination, the ccountry shall overcome and deliver on the aspirations of our people.

He urged the jobless youths that his government will provide opportunities for them to be skilled and find opportunities to work or do business in an economy that will revive.

“To the mother, struggling with the high cost of food, a lower cost of living will soon be a reality.To the entrepreneur, seeking capital, an investor and a better operating environment, a government is here that understands your challenges and knows exactly what you need in order to thrive,” he said

He said his govgovernment will not take lighllightly what Zambians have entrusted the UPND alliance with the responsibility of serving you and running the affairs of the nation with their interests at heart.

He said as President, he will ensure that he delivers on the promises.

“We said bally and team will fix our economy, but we will do more than that.We will grow our economy so we can lift more people out of poverty than ever beforeWe will promote unity in diversity and ensure respect for the fundamental human rights and freedoms for all,” he said
