Messi : “Last year with the burofax mess I was ready, I knew I had to say, but not this year. My family and I wanted to continue. We have always put our well-being first, stay at home and continue to enjoy of this life at Barça and in Barcelona.”

Messi : “I’ve been thinking for the last few days, thinking what I could say, but I’m blocked. This is very difficult for me, after so many years, all my life here … I’m not ready.”

Messi : “I arrived very young, at the age of 13, and I left 21 years later with my wife and three Catalan-Argentine children. I have no doubt that after a few years out, we will return here. This is our home.”

Messi : “I never imagined saying goodbye because I didn’t think about it. I would have liked it to be done with the public. It’s difficult.”

Messi: asked to choose one moment from Barca career: “Very difficult to just pick one moment, many good moments, some bad, difficult to choose. But maybe my debut, the start of everything, my dream come true.”

Messi : “I did everything I could because I wanted to stay. Last year I didn’t want to stay and I said it. This year I wanted to stay and I couldn’t.”

Messi : “PSG is a possibility. Today, at this time, I have nothing done with anyone. When the statement came out, several clubs were interested. There is nothing closed but yes, we are talking to PSG.”

Messi : “This is the most difficult moment of my career, no doubt. I’ve had many difficult, hard moments, many defeats, but then you could return to train and get revenge. Now I cannot return, my time at this club is over. So it is the most difficult moment, yes.”

Messi : “Barça is the biggest team in the world and has a great squad. I don’t know if now or later, but there will be more players. The players pass. As Laporta said, the club is above everything.”

Messi : on finding out the news: “It was really difficult. I’m still trying to process it all. When I’ll be home it is going to be even worse, but the important thing is that I keep playing football. That’s what I like more than anything.”

Messi : “The people at Barça know me, they know I’m a winner and I want to compete. I want to finish the race winning and winning titles. I want to beat Alves’ titles. I wanted to stay, it couldn’t be. Now I have to make my way.”

Messi : “The picture with PSG players was a coincidence, completely. I was there with my friends, we decided to take a photo… they told me: ‘Come to Paris!’ but it was just a joke, we were on holiday”

Messi : “I had reduce 50% of my salary and I was not asked for anything else. What I read that I was asked for 30% more is a lie … There are many things that are not true. they asked for nothing more.”
