Winnipeg, Manitoba – Black Film Space Manitoba, a collective committed to fostering inclusive storytelling, proudly announces the premiere of Relationship Remix, a compelling new documentary debuting exclusively on CBC Gem on February 14, 2025. Produced by Chris Sharpe, this groundbreaking film delves into the evolving landscape of love and diversity in Canada, spotlighting the nation’s fastest-growing demographic—mixed-race couples.

Through an intimate lens, Relationship Remix explores the lives of five couples in Manitoba navigating the complexities of intercultural relationships. The documentary offers a rare and heartfelt glimpse into love that transcends racial and cultural divides, from an 18-year marriage between a Jamaican and Pakistani couple raising four children to the unique experiences of other interracial partners. By capturing candid discussions on culture, traditions, family expectations, and shared experiences, the film highlights how love endures amid societal pressures and evolving cultural identities in Western Canada.

Adding to the film’s depth is Relationship Remix: The Album, an original soundtrack curated by producers Chris Sharpe, Jay Evans (Sons 2 The Grave), Fresh Kils, and Serj Bhatti. The album, produced by Motto Studios, features seven tracks inspired by the couples’ cultural backgrounds, blending diverse musical influences into a vibrant, immersive experience. The lineup includes artists Rukus 45, Crizelyn, Jay Evans, J-Raj, Primo, MC Quota, Tiago Vasuez, and Black Lantern, each contributing to a soundscape that mirrors the richness of the relationships the documentary celebrates.

Black Film Space Manitoba extends its gratitude to key partners and funders who helped bring this project to life, including 47 Filmworks, CBC, CBC Gem, Manitoba Film & Music, Canada Media Fund, Rogers Group of Funds, Basketball Manitoba, Sport Manitoba, Ozanna Event Rentals, FF Glam Makeovers, and La Scala.

Mark your calendars for February 14, 2025, and tune in to CBC Gem for the highly anticipated premiere of Relationship Remix. This thought-provoking documentary promises to spark meaningful conversations about love, identity, and the world we strive to build together.
